Several computer science students were given incorrect ballots Feb. 15 due to a glitch in the system, according to the chief electoral officer.
“When they went to vote, when their [student number] was going in it said they were in science instead of computer science,” said Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) CEO Sean Finn. “That concerned us, of course.”
Roughly six students were affected, but Finn said the problem has been resolved.
The affected students’ ballots were sealed in an envelope within an envelope to be verified later, as is standard procedure, he said.
Finn said he spoke with Carleton Computing and Communication Services and the code responsible for separating computer science students with regular science students in the system contained a minor error that mislabeled a select number of students.
Ultimately, Finn said there’s “no need for a recount.”
