Six students were elected to represent undergraduate students at the executive level Feb. 1 for the 2014-15 academic year.

“I think we’re going to be very successful this year with the kind of people we have,” said Folarin Odunayo, the current vice-president (finance) and president-elect of the 2014-15 Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA)

The A Better Carleton (ABC) executive slate is composed of  vice-president (finance) Reda Zarrug, vice-president (internal) Sofia Dala, vice-president (student life) Rawan Abujoub, vice-president (student services) Adil Tahseen, and vice-president (student issues) Maddy Porter.

This is the third year the A Better Carleton (ABC) slate has swept, but Odunayo said his team has something different to offer.

The members said they all come from very different backgrounds.

Odunayo is from Nigeria and lived in Asia. Dala is from South America. Abujoub is of Palestinian origin, but comes from Massachusetts. Zarrug, Porter, and Tahseen all hail from different places in Ontario.

CUSA made many promises during the campaign, such as renegotiating the U-Pass, creating a multi-purpose and print room, and eliminating ATM fees.

“We’re going to be reaching out to students over the next couple of months to get a better understanding of what they want,” vice-president (student issues) Porter said.

Porter said CUSA hopes to reach out to as many students as possible.

“We don’t wait for people to come to us, we go to them,” she said. “As student leaders, you need to be present.”

Odunayo said the executive is looking forward to next year.
