The Charlatan (TC): Why did you decide to come to Carleton?
Jordie Deagle (JD): I kind of came for two, actually three reasons. I was really interested in the journalism program here. It’s kind of renowned across Canada as being the premiere journalism program. Secondly, I’ve been hearing a lot about the team, the strides they’ve been making over the three years they have been back in the OUA. There’s a lot of promise shown and it’s exciting to hear about that. Lastly, playing in the Western Hockey League (WHL) you kind of go all over Canada and the western United States. I wanted to head out East and check out this part of the world.
TC: What’s your best hockey experience so far?
JD: That would probably have to be when we went to the semifinals in the WHL and it was just wild. The whole city got behind us . . . playing the games. It was a pretty cool experience.
TC: What goals do you have for the upcoming season?
JD: I think my goal is a team goal; we want to go to nationals. That’s the end of the line, that’s where we see ourselves being and we’re going to do everything in our power to make sure we get there.
To help do whatever I can do to get the team there. I have to do everything I can and play the best I possibly can to ensure we end up in nationals at the end of the year.
TC: What do you like best about hockey at Carleton?
JD: I just like the atmosphere. The whole university experience is cool in itself but when you add in the varsity athletics, it’s kind of like a little community. It just brings another element to the whole university experience and it’s really cool. It’s a great experience for sure.
