RE: "Invest in exchange programs" – Feb 10 to 16, 2011

I was very happy to see the author recognize the value of study abroad in creating globally-minded citizens.

I would, however, like to clarify that the International Student Services Office (ISSO) offers a number of ways in which students can find out about these tremendous opportunities.

In the fall term, the ISSO ran 30 general and program specific study abroad information sessions, visited approximately 15 classes, and participated in the work and study abroad fair.

These information sessions, and study abroad opportunities in general, were promoted through posters at various locations across campus, weekly advertisements in the Charlatan, and were included in the undergraduate student newsletter, ThisWeek@MyCarleton, on a regular basis.

Additionally, information tables were set up in the Atrium throughout the fall.

As a result, there are a record number of Carleton students going out on an exchange in 2011—2012 (and applications are still being submitted) through our bilateral exchange agreements and programs like the Ontario Universities International exchange programs.

At any time of the year, students with questions about exchange programs or interested in our other international opportunities can visit our website or contact the ISSO by phone, email, or in person.
