The Carleton women’s basketball team went two for two against its Ontario University Athletics (OUA) East division opponents on the weekend, trouncing the Royal Military College Paladins with a 67-36 win Jan. 23 at the Ravens’ Nest.
Recouping from a sloppy, turnover-filled win the previous night against the Queen’s University Golden Gaels, the Lady Ravens were eager to prove why they are atop the OUA-East standings.
The first half saw Carleton shoot very well, and the team carried a 37-19 lead going into halftime.
Carleton outrebounded RMC 42-28, providing many more second-change opportunities throughout the game.
The second half saw Carleton execute well on offence and defence. The team shot 41.7 per cent from three-point range.
Third year guard Courtney Smith was lights out from the field, hitting six of eight, and scoring a game-high 14 points.
The team was able to get its entire roster out on the floor at some point during the game, allowing the starters to rest for the upcoming Jan. 27 game against the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees in the fourth annual Capital Hoops Classic at ScotiaBank Place.
