Name: Kaylee Cameron
Program/year:
Third-year women and gender studies with a minor in sexuality studies
Position running for:
FASS councillor
Why are you running for CUSA council?

I’m running for CUSA council again because I believe that a Student’s union can be an effective place for student engagement and change in the university. I want our union to be a strong supporter and advocate for students and student issues.
What do you think makes you a good candidate?
I have already served on CUSA council, and I am an actor in groups that work to create social change. I will work and do work to make spaces on campus safer, and I will continue to fight for students that may not feel represented in a council that is often regarded as far removed from our community.
What are two things you hope to achieve if elected?
1. I’d like to try to re-create an environment that fosters solidarity and a sense of belonging and community on campus, starting with other academic associations, faculties, workers unions and representation.
2. I will push for a greater focus on student wellbeing and emotional/mental health, be it through a greater acknowledgement of CUSA service centers and clubs, creating bigger and better campaigns, or working with the university to make student supports more available to them.
What’s one fun fact about yourself?
This past summer I won a ‘best latte art’ title in our local workplace barista competition. I nerd out with coffee and coffee culture pretty well all of the time.
