Wishing we could have $1,000,000 to spend on our wardrobes, the Campus Style team decided to ask students what they would purchase with that money. With designers pricing their items at several thousand dollars, putting together an outfit that is affordable but chic is a full-time job.

Style tip of the week: Keep up with New York Fashion Week this month to pull inspiration from the runway for your wardrobe.

If you had $1,000,000 to spend on your wardrobe, what would you buy?

I would get a suit for every day of the week, tons of boots, tons of dress shoes, I would just go to like every store. I would probably go to Simons in Montreal and be like, give me the whole store!

And if you were to use that money to dress your friends?

The same! That’s what I like to see on people. For women, I like when they shop at Aritzia – I wish there was a store for men like that.

Do you have any tips for students wearing makeup who don’t want to overdo it?

Personally, I don’t think I could be coming to school with it overdone — you don’t want to look like you’re going to a party. Everyone has those features that they need to bring out without really overdoing anything. So if it’s your eyes that are your thing, then maybe do your eyeliner with a nude lipstick instead of an amazing lip, amazing eyes, an amazing face — find one thing and focus on that, that’s what’s important.

If you had $1,000,000 to spend on makeup & clothing, where would you go?

I would go to Zara, first of all! I love Zara. I would buy Christian Louboutin shoes — yeah I cannot afford that, so I would definitely go there. I’m definitely more of a shoe person. I also shop online a lot! For makeup, I’m more of an eye person so I would probably go to Sephora for all their variety.

If you had $1,000,000 to spend on your wardrobe, what kind of items would you buy?

I would probably try to go with stores that offer more quality than quantity, so I’d probably go with not necessarily Prada or Dior, but more underground designers.

So you’re from Montreal — how does style in Ottawa and Montreal compare?

I think in Ottawa people are more classic – they go with jeans and sweatshirts a lot of the time. In Montreal it’s a bit different because there’s more cultural interference. I want to stay politically correct – I don’t want to say anything bad! You can see that people in Montreal spend more time and money on their appearance.
