The Charlatan Publication Inc.’s upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) is next week Sunday (April 6) at 7 p.m. Here’s everything you need to about AGM registration and applying for the Board of Director Elections.
Membership Registration
Members who wish to attend the AGM must register online in order for Carleton University’s Student Services to validate registrant’s membership. Members must register by April 4th at 9 a.m. to give Student Services enough time to review the registration list.

Members whose registration is validated by Student Services will receive a link to the online meeting and other information regarding the AGM meeting.
Board Elections
A new Board of Directors will be elected at our upcoming AGM.
Attendees at the AGM will select, by a digital secret ballot, from a pool of applications, nine (9) student representatives, one (1) business person and one (1) professional journalist.
Members interested in running for a student director spot on the Board must submit a Resume, Cover Letter or 250-word statement expressing their intent to run for the Board and a completed nomination form (In accordance with section 12.2 of our bylaws, members must have five (5) signatures of members of the Corporation including their student numbers and faculties. These members of the Corporation may not be current board members or editorial staff. The nomination must contain signatures from a minimum of three faculties).
Members applying for the Board are encouraged to print out and collect nominations using the Charlatan Nomination Form. Those interested in applying for the professional journalist and professional business position are only required to submit a resume and cover letter.
Members who wish to apply can submit their application through the Charlatan Board of Director Application Form 2025-26. The deadline to submit your application is Saturday April 5, at 9 a.m.
All applications are subject to review by the appointment committee. However, all applications will be entered into the pool of candidates so long as the member’s application and eligibility are in accordance with the Charlatan’s bylaws.
Due to the potential for a conflict of interest, according to the Charlatan’s bylaws and constitution, no individuals who will serve or have served as a representative for RRRA, CUSA, GSA or CASG within the past year can be appointed to the Board.
The Board of Directors are currently volunteers and do not receive financial compensation.
