Hello everyone, my name is Humna Shaikh and I am running to be your next CUSA Vice‐President (student issues) with my team Real Leadership.
I am in my third‐year, majoring in business law with a minor in psychology. I am an international student born in Pakistan and brought up in Dubai. You may recently remember me from summer orientation when I was a leader and worked at the International Student Services Office to plan orientations for new and incoming Carleton students. I have been lead curator for TEDxCarletonU and those who attended the event can attest to what a success it was!
My commitment to providing students the best platform to voice their issues started with volunteering at RRRA as a floor representative and later, their programming coordinator. I have helped plan campaigns such as the Sexual Assault Awareness campaign and RRRA Sex Week. In addition, I have been involved with the Carleton Equal Voice Chapter for two years and currently serve on the executive as vice-president (external).
I have worked with students and heard their concerns, and now I want to address them. As part of my platform, I want to increase the funding available for mental health awareness campaigns on campus. I also want to see a safer campus by installing more cameras in the tunnels. Most importantly, I want to make your Haven’s experience faster and easier! I want to set up an express check out system for your books so you don’t have to wait in long lines spilling on to Sunnyside.
