My housemate really likes toast. She also really likes Nutella on her toast. Finally, she also really likes my peanut butter cookies. I set out to combine these last two loves into one, ultimate cookie.
I’ve always loved baking. It’s an easy way to do something nice it’s also great for cheap Christmas presents.
I’ve been making this simple peanut butter cookie recipe for years. It’s perfect for beginners, because it’s fairly simple.
So, to make my Nutella cookies, I adapted Fannie Farmer’s dear old recipe. Yes, there was once a chef named Fannie Farmer. Hate her name all you want, but Fannie knew how to cook.
I replaced peanut butter for nutella in the original recipe and voilà!
Nutella Cookies:
125 ml (½ cup) butter
125 ml (½ cup) Nutella
125 ml (½ cup) granulated sugar
125 ml (½ cup) brown sugar
1 egg
2ml (½ tsp) vanilla
2ml (½ tsp) salt
2 ml (½ tsp) baking soda
250 ml (1 cup) flour
– Preheat the oven to 350 F and grease some cookie sheets.
– Cream the butter and nutella together. This means melt the butter until soft and then mix the butter and nutella together on high speed with an electric mixer.
– Beat in the two sugars, then add the egg and vanilla. Mix well.
– Mix together the salt, baking soda, and flour and add to the first mixture of butter and Nutella, mixing thoroughly.
– Arrange by spoonfuls on the cookie sheets, about an inch apart.
– Bake for about 10 minutes or until firm.
Makes about 20 cookies.
