If a record-setting season that saw the Carleton Ravens football team win a home playoff game for the first time in 30 years wasn’t enough to sway skeptical fans, then the results at the 2017 CFL combine should be enough evidence to show that Carleton is quickly becoming one of the top football schools in the country.
Since returning to the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) in 2012 following a lengthy absence, Ravens head coach Steve Sumarah has built the roster into a Yates Cup contender.
Along with potential first-round draft pick Nate Behar, the roster boasts elite talent such as wide receiver Malcolm Carter, offensive lineman Kwabena Asare, and defensive backs Nathaniel Hamlin and Tunde Adeleke
Although Behar previously told the Charlatan, “Playing receiver, [the 40-yard dash] ends up taking on a whole life of its own sadly . . . which kind of sucks because it’s silly when you think about it,” he posted the third-best time at the combine, while Adeleke placed first.
The Ravens certainly attracted plenty of attention thanks to their performances at the combine. Despite still being a relatively new team and therefore not being a legacy football school, it’s only a matter of time before Carleton becomes one of the top football schools in all of U SPORTS.
