Dear Editor,
I am a bus driver for OC Transpo.
I have the pleasure of working the number four route.
It’s a very busy line and often my bus is full when I leave Carleton.
I want to compliment Carleton students for being the most polite and courteous customers I have riding my bus.
I greet all my customers with a smile and a “thank you” or “hello”.
Many customers simply walk past me as if I wasn’t there.
But I’ve noticed that the majority of Carleton students boarding my bus reciprocate with a courteous reply and a smile.
Also they board the bus prepared with their U-Pass at shoulder level making it easier for me and faster for all us.
I service other schools of higher learning and there is a marked difference in their response to my greetings.
Common courtesy is not common.
But it is a skill that will compliment any career.
I don’t know what you are doing at your school but keep it up.
Thank you for making my day.
