Born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, David has spent his entire life living in our beautiful nation’s capital.

As the fourth Raven in his family, David knew the day he stepped foot on campus he had a responsibility to contribute as much as he could to the Carleton community.

“Carleton has given my family, my community and myself more than I could have ever imagined, and since arriving on this campus, I knew had to find a way to give back.”

David is currently your vice-president (operations) for the Carleton Academic Student Government (CASG), and has served his role profoundly well by establishing a fiscally responsible budget that is projected to provide a surplus to be maintained into the next executive’s term.

David’s experience representing students is not only limited to academic governance. In addition to his role at CASG, David also serves as an elected undergraduate student representative of Carleton University’s Board of Governors, where he acts as a liaison between the interests of undergraduate students and the interests of the university as a whole.

In addition to his leadership roles on campus, David has been recognized on the Faculty of Public Affairs Dean’s list on multiple occasions. David’s passion for safe and productive communities extends beyond Carleton. As a front line youth trainer for YOUCAN (Youth Understanding Conflict and Advocating NonViolence), David was able to facilitate workshops to inspire at-risk youth to use peaceful methods of conflict resolution and develop prosocial abilities. David directed these workshops at Operation Come Home and in over a dozen secondary schools across Ottawa.

This past summer David was accepted as an intern working in the Office of the Minister of Finance. This internship taught him invaluable lessons, both in regards to finance and governance. In the closing weeks of his internship, David was named intern of the year, from a pool of over 100 other candidates.

For David, his Carleton is one that is collaborative, accessible, and honest. He’ll do more than create a fiscally responsible budget, he’ll collaborate with you to make it—he’ll do more than advocate for education accessibility, he’ll facilitate it.

On January 27th and 28th vote David Andrews for vice-president (finance) and his team, Your Carleton!
