Almost three weeks after student fees were scheduled to be released, the Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) remains at an impasse with administration over CUSA’s auditor’s report.

In accordance with the administrative agreement signed last November, CUSA submitted an auditor’s report to the university Oct. 15.
Upon approval of the report, the university will release the student fees they have collected on CUSA’s behalf.

However, according to provost and vice-president (academic) Peter Ricketts, the university is not satisfied with CUSA’s submission just yet.
“The [university] is still waiting for a satisfactory response from CUSA to a concern regarding the audited financial report,” Ricketts said via email.

“Once CUSA responds, the [university] will be in a position to determine whether or not the terms of the agreement have been fulfilled so that the fees can be transferred.”

CUSA vice-president (finance) Karim Khamisa said the requests for information relate to CUSA’s internal processes and have no impact on the auditor’s report.

Ricketts maintained that each of the requests made by administration “are specific to the audited report.”

At this time, CUSA is not planning to submit any new information.

“We’re going to keep talking and pushing and attempting to work with them,” Khamisa said. “Hopefully we can come to an agreement.”
