Raven alumni continue to impress
The Carleton Ravens varsity men’s basketball team alumni helped Canada earn a spot in the 2010 Basketball World Championships this past week at the FIBA Americas Championship in Puerto Rico.
Former Ravens, Aaron Doornekamp and Ryan Bell, stepped off the bench to help push Team Canada to a fourth place and qualifying finish for next year’s games.
Doornekamp, the 2009 Carleton graduating athlete of the year, averaged 15 minutes and four points in 10 games, while Bell jumped on the floor in three games for nine minutes of playing time.
Train hard, play harder
The season may not have started yet, but that hasn’t kept Carleton’s lacrosse team from getting their players back into the swing of things.
Last week, veterans and rookies alike participated in a week-long training camp to shape-up for their upcoming season.
“We like to get [the players] back into game shape because they normally come off the summer and they’re a bit rusty with the sticks and they haven’t been running quite as hard as they need to in the season,” said head coach Noah Goddard.

New model for CU football
It’s that time of year again. While the rest of those universities in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) kicked off their football seasons this past weekend, Carleton fans collectively sat, dejected, asking why they don’t have a team to call their own.
The familiar foe of funding has stood in the way of a Ravens football revival for 11 years, despite repeated efforts by students and alumni groups to rally support for a new team.
