#5 Adam Larsson:

Although he’s only 16 years old, Adam Larsson could play a key role in Sweden’s success at the upcoming World Junior Championships. Larsson is already playing in the Swedish men’s elite league, which is almost unheard of for someone his age. This offensively gifted defenceman is not NHL draft eligible until 2011, but remember the name, because he’ll be among the top players selected.

Fencers golden

The Carleton Ravens varsity fencing team added a couple of gold medals to their early season success Oct. 31 - Nov.1, despite a nasty flu bug running through the team.

Kelleigh Ryan and Jennifer Duney took home gold in the women’s foil competition for the Ravens, while Devan Marr and Jonathan Girard won in men’s sabre at the Royal Military College (RMC) Invitational held in Kingston, Ont.

The two golds make five in total so far for the team, including the three they captured at the Oct. 17-18 Queen’s Invitational.

The Carleton men’s soccer team created an upset in Kingston, Ont. Oct. 31, when they defeated the second-ranked Queen’s University Golden Gaels in penalty kicks to win the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) East semifinal match.
