Former CU coach joins NHL as Flames’ scout
Former Carleton hockey head coach Fred Parker has something new to add to his resume as he joins the National Hockey League’s Calgary Flames as a full-time scout.
Parker will be scouting from Central and Eastern Ontario to Western Quebec and the New England area.
Todd Button, the Flames’ head scout, said he is excited for Parker to bring a fresh perspective to scouting.

Carleton player to lead Guyanese soccer team
Carleton’s own Briana De Souza was named co-captain of the Guyanese national women’s soccer team in early August.
The Ravens women’s defender said she was shocked after receiving the news, which came after just two training sessions with the national team.
“I’m not sure why [technical director Mark Rodrigues] chose me. I think it’s because I’m very vocal on the field,” De Souza said.

Though Aaron Doornekamp and Ryan Bell are now both members of the Carleton Ravens alumni, they’re still wearing the red and white.
The former Carleton basketball stars now don the Maple Leaf rather than the Raven as they prepare for the upcoming FIBA World Championships with the Canadian national team.
