Men’s soccer remains undefeated
Coming off an exciting goalless draw against the Ryerson University Rams Oct. 2, the Ravens kept their undefeated — and shutout — streaks alive with another 0–0 tie the following afternoon against the Varsity Blues.
Ravens head coach Sandy Mackie said he was happy with the team’s performance but disappointed that they couldn’t score a winner.
With the result, Carleton increases their shutout streak to 720 minutes to start the season.
Carleton wins water polo invitational
The Carleton Ravens men’s water polo team dominated their last game of the Carleton Invitational Oct. 3 with a 9–7 win over the Ottawa Titans, capping off an undefeated weekend.
“[The Ravens] performed well,” said head coach Zoltan Csepregi after the game. “This is the first tournament of the season and the guys gelled well after only a month of training.”
With the win, the Ravens finished first place in the Carleton Invitational, which was the team’s first competition of the season.
Ravens surpass U of T
The Carleton Ravens women’s soccer team continued their good run of form with a narrow 1-0 victory over the University of Toronto Varsity Blues Oct. 3 at Keith Harris Stadium.
Ravens fall at UBC tournament
The Carleton Ravens women’s hockey team wrapped up their exhibition tournament the morning of Sept. 26 with a 3-2 shootout loss to the British Columbia Under-18 team in Vancouver.
After making it to the tournament final with decisive victories over the University of Toronto, the University of British Columbia and an earlier victory over the BC U-18 team, Carleton fell largely due to an inability to capitalize with the man-advantage, squandering five chances on the power play.
Former NHLer joins Ravens
From the big leagues to behind the bench, former professional hockey player Shaun Van Allen is easily the most recognizable addition to the coaching staff of the Carleton Ravens men’s hockey team this season.
For an Ottawa resident who played in the NHL for 13 years, taking on the role as Ravens assistant coach comes as a welcome move.
“I’ve always wanted to be involved in hockey,” Van Allen said. “I love playing hockey. I love trying to help younger guys get better and maybe go to another level.”
