Berard joins World University Games roster

A second Raven is flying to the 2011 World University Games to represent Canada in men’s hockey, Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) announced Jan. 19.

Forward Ryan Berard has been picked to join his men’s varsity teammate Brandon MacLean on team Canada’s roster at the international winter sports tournament, which takes place in Turkey from Jan. 27 to Feb. 6.

Carleton hockey team defeats Concordia

The Carleton Ravens men’s hockey team rebounded from last week’s loss to the undefeated McGill Redmen with a resounding 7-2 win over the Concordia Stingers Jan. 21 at the Ice House.

First-year forward Joe Pleckaitis, who finished the game with three points, was delighted with how the Ravens responded to last week’s disappointment.

“It was really important to have this [win],” Pleckaitis said grinning from ear to ear. “We want to catch McGill. That’s our goal.”
