Men’s hockey team adds NCAA talent

The Carleton Ravens men’s hockey team has added more depth to their lineup, recruiting a pair of former National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I players.

Defenceman Michael Folkes, who last played for the Ohio State Buckeyes, said he’s excited at the prospect of a fresh start with the Ravens.
“As soon as I got here, it felt like I was part of the team,” Folkes said. “Immediately, as soon as I got to the dressing room, the team was real nice and it felt really comfortable for me.”

Basketball team picks up second pre-season win

The Carleton Ravens women’s basketball team continued their run-up to the regular season with a 61-48 victory over the Concordia Stingers at the Ravens’ Nest Oct. 6.

The Carleton Ravens men’s hockey team ended their pre-season on a positive note, winning their final exhibition game before the beginning of the 2011-2012 campaign.

The Ravens trounced the St. Lawrence University Saints, a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I team Oct. 2 in Canton, N.Y. by a score of 5-2.

Women’s soccer team splits weekend matches

After being shut out 2-0 by the Queen’s Golden Gaels Oct. 1, the Carleton Ravens women’s soccer team ended their two-day road trip on a high note with a 3-0 win against the Trent Excalibur Oct. 2.

The Golden Gaels thumped Carleton 4-0 Sept. 7 and the Ravens were looking to redeem themselves, but their opponents opened the scoring 10 minutes into the first half with Kelli Chamberlain finishing past Ravens keeper Anna Morsky.
