Golden Gaels shatter Carleton’s championship dream
The Carleton Ravens women’s soccer team put forth a valiant effort, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Queen’s Golden Gaels in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) quarter-final Oct. 30 in Kingston, Ont.
Queen’s, the defending Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) champions, shut out the Ravens 3-0, ending their season in the process.
Five soccer players granted OUA East all-star nods
Five Carleton Ravens soccer players were given Ontario University Athletics (OUA) East division all-star nods after wrapping up regular season play Oct. 23.
In addition to two women and three men, men’s head coach Sandy Mackie was named the OUA East coach of the year.
Rowing team ends OUA season
The Carleton Ravens rowing team rounded out their 2011-12 season Oct. 29 at the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) championships with some strong results, according to head coach Ed Fournier.
Winning streak ends for men’s hockey team
The Carleton Ravens men’s hockey team saw their four-game winning streak come to an end Oct. 29 at the Ice House with a 4-2 loss to the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees.
With the loss, the Ravens’ record fell to 4-3 on the season.
“[The Gee-Gees] outworked us . . . have to give them credit,” said Ravens head coach Marty Johnston. “They showed up and won the battles.”
Martlets down women’s hockey team
The Carleton Ravens women’s hockey team was shutout 3-0 by the McGill Martlets Oct. 30 at the Ice House, despite a solid performance by second-year goaltender Tamber Tisdale.
