Frosh week bottled-water free
For the first time Carleton University Students’ Association’s (CUSA) frosh week will be bottled-water free.
Reusable water bottles will be provided in frosh kits and handed out to frosh facilitators, according to Alex Sirois, CUSA vice-president (student life). Water refill stations will be available for frosh and tents will be put out for shade.
Carleton undergrad registration rises
Carleton saw a 7 per cent rise in registrations for the upcoming 2009-10 academic year due to an “aggressive recruiting” campaign that involves a more personalized approach, said the Carleton administration.
“Students and their parents appreciate the fact that Carleton takes a personal interest in them,” said Beth Gorham, manager of public affairs at Carleton in an e-mail interview.
Carleton regains contol of Galleria
Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) accused Carleton’s administration of taking “another step back in providing space for students” in a press release issued Aug. 24, following a university decision to resume control of booking space in the central galleria atrium of the Unicentre.
CUSA changes petition recall bylaws
Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) passed a motion to clarify the process by which council members may be recalled by petition, at the council meeting on Aug. 20.
The motion amends Section 2.5 of Bylaw 1 of the CUSA bylaws.
“I hope this clarifies the process and brings us into line with other student unions,” said Erik Halliwell, CUSA president and mover of the motion.
