Carleton joins Project Hero

Carleton has recently joined the ranks of other Canadian universities in its adoption of the Project Hero scholarship, which provides financial assistance to children of Canadian Forces personnel killed while serving in an active mission.

Carleton will pay tuition fees for up to eight academic terms, as well as covering on-campus residence fees for the first two academic terms.

Frosh week bottled-water free

For the first time Carleton University Students’ Association’s (CUSA) frosh week will be bottled-water free.

Reusable water bottles will be provided in frosh kits and handed out to frosh facilitators, according to Alex Sirois, CUSA vice-president (student life). Water refill stations will be available for frosh and tents will be put out for shade.

Carleton undergrad registration rises

Carleton saw a 7 per cent rise in registrations for the upcoming 2009-10 academic year due to an “aggressive recruiting” campaign that involves a more personalized approach, said the Carleton administration.

“Students and their parents appreciate the fact that Carleton takes a personal interest in them,” said Beth Gorham, manager of public affairs at Carleton in an e-mail interview.
