York prof demands fair treatment
History professor David Noble is once again entangled in controversy with his employer, York University.
Noble said he believes York has unfairly penalized him for his past indiscretions by assigning him classes on Friday afternoon, an undesirable time slot. He has taken the issue before a human rights tribunal in Toronto.
Partying it up on Aberdeen Street
Queen’s University’s annual booze-fuelled bender occurred as usual this past weekend despite the fact the university cancelled the homecoming last fall after the 2008 homecoming saw more than 100 arrests and numerous hospitalizations.
But this year’s festivities were tempered by the presence of hundreds of police from the Kingston force, Ontario Provincial Police and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, among others.
Carleton students instil change in their own backyards
The youth of our generation are often stereotyped as lazy and lacking compassion.
But don’t tell this to the more than 230 Carleton students who stepped up Sept. 26 to lend 23 Ottawa-based organizations a helping hand through the Carleton Serves program.
The tasks involved anything from sorting perishable goods to collecting garbage off the streets – all with the goal of elping the local community.
Since its creation three years ago, the program has more than doubled in size.
