Pornography and sexual violence: is there a link?

Hollywood makes thousands of movies each year, but a lot of those aren’t just the action, drama or horror films you see in theatres.

Pornography is in the mix, too.

From fetishes to fantasies, you can find it all by typing a few words into Google. Sometimes porn is homemade, and other times it’s made in a studio in Los Angeles.

The porn industry has flourished since the advent of the Internet, and it is one of the fastest growing industries out there.

Heather Kitching was sitting in St. Patrick’s building at Carleton University with a few of her classmates when one student asked her how old she was.

To most undergrads, this question wouldn’t faze them.

When Kitching said she was 38, her classmates seemed a little shocked.

“One guy who we were with asked me, ‘You went to Nirvana concerts?’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah, I worked for their record company,’” she said.

Mature students: why people choose to study later in life

The Bill Ellis Centre for Mature and Part-Time Students at 314 Unicentre opens into a large room, with a few people seated in the battered chairs which line the walls.

It is in the office to the left of the entrance that Leila Navabzadeh, 26, operates in her role as administrative co-ordinator for the centre.

The office is busy, and people interrupt the interview four times looking to speak with Navabzadeh, who tells them to come back later.
