Students who live off-campus can be put through hell trying to find the perfect place — and once they’ve found it, their troubles aren’t always over.

While some students will stick to living on residence following first year, the majority will strike out on their own to find housing off-campus.

If there is one piece of advice for students to take when dealing with a landlord, it’s get it in writing.

Most people take colour at face value. But for interior designers, colour selection is a crucial process.

“Colour choices are really personal,” said Sylvia Whitton, who teaches a foundation year in colours at the Ontario College of Arts and Design (OCAD).

Keith Rushton, the chair of the graphic design program at OCAD, explained how interior design is all about purpose and asking the right questions, like: “What is the personality of the people? What are they trying to accomplish? What are their sensibilities and tastes?”

People who have had to paint their bedrooms know that colour matters. Colours can represent personalities and character, and are often attributed to certain moods.

The feelings produced by a given colour affect humans in different ways, according to David Simmons, a psychology professor at the University of Glasgow in Scotland.

But the first step to interpreting and feeling an effect from different colours is a physical process.
