A female Carleton student was sexually assaulted on campus at 3:30 a.m. Oct. 30, according to the department of university safety.
The student was pushed up against a wall and sexually touched by an unknown man, according to an email sent to students, faculty, and staff Oct. 31.
Allan Burns, Carleton’s director of university safety, said the incident occurred outdoors in an area surrounding Stormont and Dundas Houses — commonly referred to as the “fishbowl.”
The student wasn’t physically injured, Burns said.
Ottawa police isn’t currently involved in the investigation, since the standard procedure is to only involve the police at the victim’s request, he added.
The man involved in the assault is described as black, approximately six feet tall with an average build and short hair. He was wearing a dark blue or black hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and a baseball cap, according to the email.
