A Carleton student was struck and killed by a car July 8 while walking home from campus after class.
Julia Gregoire, a second-year women’s and gender studies student, was on her way home Wednesday night when she was hit by an SUV on Riverside Drive, according to police.
“The investigation is ongoing,” said Alain Boucher, one of the police officers investigating the case. He added no arrests have been made.
The 59-year-old driver of the SUV stayed at the scene after the accident, Boucher said.
The crash happened around 10 p.m. between Mooney’s Bay Place and Walkley Rd, while Gregoire was walking back to an apartment she shared with some other girls, according to the Ottawa Sun.
The 18-year-old student was from Barrie, Ont.
“She had big plans. We’re all going to miss her,” her mother, Ellie Gregoire, told the Sun.
Police have asked anyone with information about the accident to call the collision investigation unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 2481. Tips can be anonymously submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
