Two Carleton students received the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Sept. 15 for leadership potential, according to a university press release.

Eli MacLauren and Alex Wong will receive $140,000 each over the next two years, the press release stated. The pair were two of 70 to receive the award, designed to develop their leadership potential and to position them for success as research leaders of tomorrow, according to the fellowship’s website.

MacLauren will produce a book on the origins of Canadian publishing beginning in the 18th century, the release stated. Wong’s project will look at the process of the adaption of organisms as it relates to issues of biodiversity, climate change and the emergence of new diseases.

We’re proud to have attracted these stellar young researchers, said Kim Matheson, Carleton’s vice-president of research. They will be joining a rich, collaborative and productive environment with sponsorship in internationally renowned research units.”
