Carleton’s Michel Dumontier, an associate professor of bioinformatics, is part of a Canadian team of biomedical researchers that received a $927,000 donation from Canada’s Advanced Research and Innovative Network (CANARIE).

CANARIE’s donation to the Canadian Bioinformatics Resources As Semantic Services (C-BRASS), will be used to develop better methods for researchers to access and share information.

This includes the development of a toolkit, which will be the home of a multitude of new and advanced applications, such as the Health Canada funded ST-SHARE, a database for systems toxicology.

Dumontier will be researching ways in which to analyze genetics’ role in drug effectiveness, with the hope of improving the efficiency of treatment for the sick.
