Whether we want it or not, the cold weather is setting in and our wardrobes are getting prepared for a new dose of life and inspiration. We finally get the opportunity to wear those items that have been hidden away in our closet for the past five months, and match them with pieces that no one saw coming. That said, the students at Carleton have got it going on. As I pursued my quest for chic style on campus, I noted everything from comfy fall sweaters, to classy infinity scarves, pants that could not flatter one further, and a mix-and-match of prints, colors, and combinations. Professors were even spotted looking their professional best on a sunny teaching day. Keep it chic ladies and gentlemen.

Tell us what you’re wearing today!
The top is from Garage, circa grade 10 before the whole onset of the jean-shirt trends, I still love it to this day! The skirt was a fairly recent purchase from Zara, my bag is from Urban Outfitters, and the scarf is from Suzy Shier a while back. The bracelet is a gift from one of my Bengali friends at a wedding!

What would you say influences the way you dress?
I would say it’s a fusion between my religions to an extent, because I have to abide to certain restrictions. So like the scarf on my head, I have to dress fairly modestly. I hate when people say you can’t have fun with it, though! Dressing head to toe in black is not my mode of operandi; I like to keep it bright and colorful. Working in the mall influenced me as well, I used to pick things up constantly and try them on before and after shifts.

What are your top three favorite items in your wardrobe at the moment?
I own this fur stole from GUESS bought a few years ago, and I love to pair it with my leather jacket. I have these really nice Steve Madden wedges that are bright, colorful, and patterned, and is honestly my statement piece. If I had to wear anything, it would definitely be those! Also, I have this really nice burgundy-coloured satchel purse I got from a small Montreal boutique. I feel like if I wore all three of these items together it would make a pretty cute outfit!

Which trend are you not looking forward to in the fall/winter?
Honestly, ripped jeans. It may be a play on my religion, but I’ve never liked anything too ripped. I like feeling and looking refined, and when I see something ripped it doesn’t say functional to me, it’s not something I’d wear to work or anything.

Describe your outfit!
Today, most of the stuff I’m wearing is actually thrifted! My pants I got from a garage sale (for free), my top I got for $10 at a store called Hype. The necklace I believe is from Banana Republic, and my boots are from Aldo. The bow on my hair is just a little piece of fabric I just wrapped in!

What or whom would you say influences your wardrobe?
I’m on Lookbook a lot; it really inspires the way I dress. I think that’s where most of my influence comes from! Also, I find Rihanna’s style really inspirational. I think she is so cutting-edge.

Which accessories are your absolute favourites?
I’m trying to find more accessories for my wardrobe right now, but generally I love earrings, bracelets, and necklaces.

What three wardrobe items are you looking forward to wearing in the fall/winter?
I’m looking forward to wearing the bigger wool sweaters, also I’m getting a lot tuques for sure, and definitely a really good pair of tall winter boots that go up to your knee and stuff, I love those!
