
Katy Perry songs blared over speakers and volunteers chanted “Pop that trunk!” as Carleton University welcomed thousands of students to its residence buildings over the weekend.
Move-in was staggered over the course of four days, with volunteers and staff stationed across campus to assist new students. Carleton said more than 3,800 students are living on campus this fall.

Carleton’s brand new Rideau House building opened its doors to residents for the first time this weekend. The building will accommodate 450 students with a combination of double and single traditional-style rooms.

Carleton’s newly renovated bookstore also welcomed patrons this weekend. The store is now owned by the university after assuming operations from American company Follett Higher Education.
Fall orientation runs to the end of the week, and an on-campus concert headlined by Elijah Woods is a frosh highlight.
Classes begin Wednesday.
