Carleton Academic Student Government (CASG) vice-president (internal) Lindsey Keene has resigned from her position as of July 29. CASG announced on Instagram it will be hiring a new vice-president (internal).

CASG president Dakota Livingston told the Charlatan Keene received another career opportunity and felt she wouldn’t be able to balance both positions. Keene decided to resign after discussions with the rest of the executive team, Livingston added.

“We are really proud of her and we completely support her decision,” she said.

Keene will be staying in her role for the rest of the summer to allow the successful candidate to fully transition into their role before council is formed. CASG councillor elections are held in September.

Keene ran uncontested in CASG’s executive elections in March.

CASG’s policy compendium states: “Should a vice-president resign prior to the first meeting of council, the remaining executive committee shall appoint an interim who must receive ratification to the position by a simple majority of council members by Oct. 31 of the given year.”

Interested candidates must submit their applications to the president by Aug. 5.
