The Carleton School of Industrial Design, along with Graphic Services, has initiated a creative fundraising project for Haiti relief, in the spirit of Valentine’s Day.

They are offering decorated tins with chocolate hearts and kisses for $5 each. The proceeds will be matched by the federal government and donated to the Red Cross.

Third-year industrial design students, Alena Iouguina and Liz Sin Mok created the tin design, which features hibiscuses, the national flower of Haiti, as well as the hisponilan trogan, the country’s national bird.

“It’s a great way to give a little and get a lot,” said professor Brian Burns of the School of Industrial Design, who largely organized the effort. “It’s a perfect Valentine’s gift and it’s for a good cause.”

Students wishing to purchase a tin may do so by visiting either Graphic Serves at 102 Robertson Hall or the main office of Industrial Design at 3470 Mackenzie Building. The fundraising goal is $1,400.
