TC: How did you get your start in basketball?

Tyson Hinz (TH): Both my parents played basketball at McGill University, and they were both my coaches growing up, when I first started, so basketball definitely runs in my house and we’re pretty good at it.

TC: How much training do you put in regularly?

TH: We practice two hours [a day as a team] from Monday to Thursday, and [we usually have] games Friday and Saturday, then maybe about three hours each day [on my own].

TC: What do you hope to do with basketball after graduation?

TH: That’s tough. I’d like to see if I can play overseas in Europe and hopefully continue to play basketball. But after that, I really don’t have a clue yet.

TC: What do you attribute your success to?

TH: A bunch of guys in the past like [Osvaldo Jeanty] and Aaron [Doornekamp] and even Rob Smart, those kind of guys are pretty good basketball players. I just try to follow their lead and go with what the veterans during my first year taught me and kind of lead by their example.
