The Advance slate, led by presidential candidate Sami Islam, swept the Rideau River Residence Association elections, Carleton University announced Wednesday afternoon.
Islam, along with vice-president (administration)-elect Mira Gillis and vice-president (programming)-elect Gialina Jiang, will start their term May 1.
This was the first RRRA election to include independent candidates after temporary electoral reform was instituted earlier this year. Three candidates ran as independents.
With 407 total ballots cast, Islam won 36.9 per cent of the presidential vote. Mikaela Baumann, running for president as part of the Renew slate, came second with 32.2 per cent.
