There were several post-secondary students running in ridings across the country during the 2019 federal election. The Charlatan recaps the results.
Elizabeth Fraser (Green)—Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock, Ont.
Fraser, the president of the Carleton Young Green’s association, came fourth in her riding of Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock with 8.3 per cent of the vote.
Maia Knight (Green)—Ajax, Ont.
The first-year journalism student at Carleton came out with 3.3 per cent of the vote in her riding of Ajax, Ont. She finished in fourth place in the voting, behind her counterparts from the NDP, Conservatives and Liberals accordingly.
Natasha Tremblay (Conservative)—Avignon-La Mitis-Matane-Matapédia
The former Carleton journalism who now studies at Laval was running for political office for the first time. She came third in the voting in her rural Quebec riding, behind the Liberals and the Bloc Québécois. She won 7 per cent of the vote.
Adam Brown (NDP) Aurora-Oak Ridges-Richmond Hill
Brown, an international development student at the University of Toronto, came out third in the voting in his riding with 7.1 per cent of the votes.
