CUSA encouraged students to fax provincial politicians a message to drop tuition fees (Photo: Adam Dietrich)

Students had the opportunity to fax a personal message along with a letter protesting tuition fees to the offices of Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty, the provincial Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities John Milloy and Ottawa Centre MPP and Yasir Naqvi.

The fax machine was set up in the atrium by the Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) on behalf of the Canadian Federation of Students’ (CFS) Drop Fees campaign.

“Tuition fees are rising exponentially for students and we want [the government] to be aware of the distress it causes students on a yearly basis,” said Meera Chander, CUSA vice-president (finance).

Although CUSA does not expect any concrete results, according to Chander, they hope to raise awareness about the need to drop tuition fees.

Chander said the premier’s office fax machine overloaded from the concentrated effort by both Carleton and University of Ottawa students.
