After tweets were issued on May 20 and 21 that contained a bomb threat directed at the campus of Carleton University, Ottawa Police attended the scene and are currently investigating the matter, according to a tweet from the school’s official Twitter account.
The school says that the matter is not considered a threat and it is safe to attend campus.
A tweet from the official Ottawa Police Twitter account said the police are aware of the online threat. According to the Ottawa Police, the threat is “not credible.”
A tweet from Charles Bordeleau, chief of the Ottawa Police Service, said, “There is an on-going investigation taking place.”
The Ottawa Police said in an official press release that the investigation now involves intelligence agencies.
“Due to the borderless nature of social media, some international partners have been notified and are assisting,” the release said.
