The Carleton Ravens men’s hockey team will look to ensure their trip to Halifax lasts longer than a day when they take to the ice on Thursday.
The seventh-ranked Ravens will take on the Saskatchewan Huskies on March 17 in the opening game of the 2016 Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) University Cup men’s hockey championship.
The winner of the game will move on to the next round while the loser will have to head home early.
According to Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen, Patrick Killeen will start in goal for the Ravens while Jordon Cooke will start for the Huskies.
Francis Dupuis started the majority of the Ontario University Athletics playoff games for Carleton, although Killeen got the nod in the bronze medal game and earned the victory.
Cooke, meanwhile, was named the CIS Goaltender of the Year on March 16 at the Manulife CIS All-Canadian Awards Gala.
The Ravens will also need to shutdown a potent trio of Huskies freshmen if they wish to move on to the next round. Rookie forwards Kohl Bauml, Levi Cable, and Andrew Johnson combined for 87 points in 28 regular season games earlier this year.
