Hey folks!
My name is Keith Burley, and I am running to be your next vice-president (finance) here at CUSA. I’m a third-year communications student minoring in history and political science.
For those who know me, I am a person who has an energetic and diverse personality that is consistently seeking growth and change. I have a variety of interests and hobbies ranging from drumming, playing guitar and ukulele, painting, dancing, acting, longboarding, playing video games, exploring spirituality and consciousness, advocating for mental health, orientation, and women’s rights, and engaging in open dialogue about anything and everything. My mind is an open book, waiting for you to read, as well to write your own page.
I fully believe that my experience qualifies me to be your VP (finance). I am the candidate that will co-operate, communicate, and aim to create concrete change and healthy business relationships with clubs & societies, the administration, corporate sponsors, and most importantly: the students.
Business:
- Marketing Intern at Carleton Dining Services
- Promotional Representative at Mosaic Sales Solutions
I have a healthy relationship with Aramark, one of CUSA’s biggest sales competitors on campus, and by continuing this level of cooperative business diplomacy, I will utilize my marketing/sales background to foster a respectable and fiscally responsible brand for our student association in the eyes of our corporate sponsors, the administration, and the students we are obliged to diligently represent.
Professionalism:
- Former Regimental Sergeant Major Staff Cadet of the largest cadet camp in Canada,
This position required me to be the leading role model for about 1,800 youth, establish relations with esteemed military officials, and act as a direct link between the officer staff and the cadet staff. All three requirements are directly applicable to the job as VP (finance), as there are high expectations to act on behalf of over 28,000 student’s interests, develop mutually beneficial agreements with external organizations, and mediate between the student body and the administration.
Campus Community:
- FPA Councilor
- CUSA Street Team
- RRRA Volunteer
- RRRA Administrative Assistant
I understand the dynamics of our two leading student associations, RRRA and CUSA, and know there is incredible potential to increase what we offer students simply by establishing a mutually beneficial relationship between our businesses.
Platform:
- CUSA Off-Campus Meal Plans
- Independent Hiring Boards
- Freeze Executive/ Cut Benefits
