Hello Ravens!
My name is Graham Pedregosa and I am running for to be your next vice‐president (finance).
Born and raised in Sarnia, Ontario, I am a third-year public affairs and policy management student. Before coming to Carleton University, I was the owner and operated six small businesses as well as being awarded the Peter Mansbridge Positive Change Award on social entrepreneurship and speaking at the Canadian Business Hall of Fame.
Serving as vice‐president (administration) last year and currently as the president of the Rideau River Residence Association (RRRA), I have overlooked the success of Abstentions convenience store, dropped and slashed my own salary and benefits, overlooked a 1.4 million dollar budget, eliminated room phone fees in residence, collected over $250,000 worth of in‐kind sponsorship, increased residence programming, and financially helped clubs and societies when they were in need. In my past two years as a RRRA executive, the team has kept every single promise made during elections. Lastly—and more importantly—the RRRA executives and I went on the record and voted NO against the raises of CUSA executives over the summer.
I am running because students deserve better from their student association. Whether it is clubs and societies lacking the funding they need, CUSA executives getting paid way too much, CUSA service centres needing more resources, or how CUSA embarrassed Carleton students over a poorly made viral video.
With over seven years of business experience and two years running the largest residence association in Canada you can be assured that as your VP (finance) I will work to slash executive benefits and salaries, make sure clubs and societies have accessible funding, and student services are getting the resources they need. I am the only VP (finance) candidate that has a record in delivering on all its promises, went on the record against salary increases of CUSA executives, and for the first time ever in Carleton history successfully lobbied to get rid of a student fee (room phones).
This year a vote for my team is a vote for real experience, real change, and real results. Carleton students deserve better—it’s time for Real Leadership.
