Matt D’Angelo, a former Ravens soccer player, has been selected to represent Canada at this summer’s Universiade in Belgrade, Serbia.

The striker will play for the Canadian soccer team July 1-12 in the bi-annual international multi-sport university games.
D’Angelo completed the last of his five years of varsity eligibility with the Ravens this year after four years as a Saint Mary’s University Husky.

“It will be a nice way for me to end my university career,” he said.

“I had one of my best years in university soccer playing for Sandy Mackie and the Ravens program, so I felt proud knowing I will be representing Carleton University, the Ravens program, and Canada at the Universiade.”

D’Angelo is no rookie to the international spotlight. He played for team Canada at the 2007 Universiade in Bangkok.

Joining D’Angelo at the Universiade will be Bill Meyer, the Ravens men’s water polo assistant coach who has been named the Canadian men’s water polo team manager.
