Campus Safety is looking for an individual responsible for the theft of a black Canada Goose jacket from the field house during exams on Dec. 21, 2014.
The suspect, according to community liaison officer Mark Hargreaves, is a “possibly Asian” male in his early 20s. He was seen wearing a grey hoodie, black rimmed glasses, khaki boots, and carried a dark backpack during the theft.
Maddie Adams, Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) newly-elected vice-president (student issues), said a coat check system during exams is one of the services she wants to bring to campus.
“I know [the theft] is not the first case. And that as the motivation behind the system,” Adams said. “Some jackets can cost more than the price of a phone.”
Adams added the service she wants to implement aims to bring students a peace of mind during exams, and not worry about their stuff getting stolen.
She said the fine details of the program have not been specified yet, but the coat-check program will definitely happen.
“Obviously the finer details have not been worked out yet as this would not be implemented until my term,” Adams said. “But I forsee it being a joint effort between the university and CUSA.”
Campus Safety is asking for anyone with information on the theft to contact Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
