The Ravens men’s hockey team failed to reach the illustrious 10-game winning streak after a loss to the Waterloo Warriors on Nov. 22.

The team got off to a good start, scoring the first goal four minutes into the game, but a sharp performance and quick offence from the Warriors caught them off their guard.

“It was a back-and-forth game and they just capitalized on their chances,” Ravens forward Joe Pleckaitis said.

The score was tied 1-1 going into the second period, but they picked up their speed coming into the second period and soon brought the score to 2-1 after Colin Behenna beat Ravens goaltender Francis Dupuis for the second time.

“The [Waterloo] goalie made some pretty nice saves,” Pleckaitis said, adding later that Dupuis also played well, despite allowing four goals on the 25 shots he faced.

Both teams were served with several penalties in the second period, and in the third period, the Warriors scored during a power-play after Damian Cross took a boarding penalty, increasing the score to 3-1.

Both teams scored again in the final period, but the result was the same, ending with a score of 4-2 for the Warriors.

“We weren’t the best we could have been,” Pleckaitis said. “It was just an off night in general.”

Pleckaitis said the team is recuperating well after the loss and heading into a good week of practices and regular routine.

“I think we need to get back to the basics,” he said. “No one likes losing but you have to forget about it and move on.”

The Ravens will now hit the road to take on the top team in the Ontario University Athletics East division, the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières Patriotes, and the third-seeded McGill Redmen Nov. 28-29.
