The Carleton Ravens rowing team rounded out their 2011-12 season Oct. 29 at the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) championships with some strong results, according to head coach Ed Fournier.
Carleton took a small team to the OUA championships with just 17 rowers compared to the championship-winning University of Western Ontario Mustangs, who had over 30 athletes.
“For a small team, we did very well,” Fournier said.
The men’s team finished with seven points while the women finished with nine.
Anna Jackson and Victoria Ozimkowski finished sixth in the lightweight double sculls, while Elise Damoisseaux and Lindsay Los placed fifth in the heavyweight division. Fournier said he was impressed with Damoiseux and Los, given some of the other women competing had rowed in the world championships.
Los added a fifth-place finish in the heavyweight women’s single.
On the men’s side, Matthew Fournier placed fourth in the lightweight single division.
The OUA Championships marked the end of Carleton’s season, as the Ravens will not be competing in the Canadian University Rowing Championships Nov. 5-6, Fournier said.
