Jane Gerster was born in Kitchener, Ont., but raised in Toronto by a family of math geniuses. As the only non-math inclined child, Jane became obsessed with journalism and travel in high school, blogging her way through multiple trips to Europe and South America.
After a few stints interning with Global National in Toronto and the Kelowna Daily Courier in B.C., she finally landed her dream job as news editor for the Charlatan in January 2011.
Once there, dreams of minor-ing in Spanish and history have been overshadowed by a lust for journalism.
Now, a day in the life for the third-year journalism student usually involves multiple cups of coffee, chasing down high profile members of Carleton’s community for comments on the latest scandals and arguing (constructively) with her fellow news ed.
