From a young age, Juanita Bawagan’s parents had tried to forge a path for her in the arts. They scheduled piano lessons in between museum visits and drawing classes and enrolled her in jazz, ballet, interpretative and tap dance to no avail. Eventually, they accepted that their daughter was not a prodigal child artist.
Despite her inability to produce art, she enjoys writing about it.
At present, she is a third-year journalism student with a minor in French. When she’s not busy with that, she splits her time between dressing up for theme parties and planning trips beyond her budget to visit family and friends on pacific islands.
In the future, she hopes to marry a west-coast artist, run The Signal on CBC Radio 2 and later relocate to Iceland to organize music festivals.
