The Carleton student who filed an assault claim against Carleton’s head of security in May said he is being denied an investigation.
Second-year public affairs and policy management student Cody d’Entremont filed the claim against safety director Allan Burns, after an incident at Carleton’s Board of Governors meeting April 26.
After gaining access to the meeting, d’Entremont and his friends were escorted out because they had not registered to be there. D’Entremont’s said Burns twisted his wrist back when he tried to take photos with his cell phone of the security and police officers at the meeting.
According to d’Entremont, police have said that charges as a result of an investigation are very unlikely and the incident was not a serious enough to result in police action.
“They just said that they don’t think a real charge is there,” d’Entremont said. “But I feel like my person was violated.”
Originally told by Carleton’s ombudsman to handle the matter with police, d’Entremont said he is now being told by police to handle the matter by writing to the board.
D’Entremont said that he does not plan on taking the matter any further since he thinks the board will not be interested in his story because of his involvement with the Students Against Israeli Apartheid protest March 29.
