Sandy Mackie will be the head coach of the Carleton Ravens men's soccer team until he decides otherwise, Carleton's director of recreation and athletics Jennifer Brenning told the Charlatan earlier this month.

"It will be up to him when he retires," Brenning said.

Mackie just finished his 18th season at the helm of the Ravens men's soccer program.

During that time, he has been named Ontario University Athletics (OUA) East coach of the year on four separate occasions, and was also recognized as the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) coach of the year in 2005-06.

But Brenning said it isn't just Mackie's success on the pitch that makes him such an asset.

"He's in it for the right reasons," Brenning said. "He isn't looking for success in only one element," she added, citing his continued involvement in the community.

After finishing second in the OUA East this season, the Ravens fell 3-2 to the Ryerson Rams in the OUA quarterfinal Oct. 30.
