An email regarding the ongoing labour negations with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 4600 was sent to students Nov. 18, detailing what students should expect in the event of a strike.

As of 12:01 a.m. Nov. 22, all members of CUPE 4600 will be in a legal position to strike. The union represents 2,400 teaching assistants and contract instructors.
The email was sent on behalf of Lise Labine, Carleton’s associate vice-president (human resources.)

The email advises students check the Carleton website as of 12:00 p.m. Nov. 21 to find out which classes will be cancelled in the event of a strike.

Additionally, it outlines that all other students services such as the library and food services will remain operational.

Union members do not have the right to use force or violence when dealing with students who chose to cross the picket lines to attend scheduled classes, the email said.
